$55,000

This stunning Hatz Classic NX836 (FAA registration N836) is a meticulously crafted experimental amateur-built biplane, constructed in 2014 by its owner. This single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft is powered by a reliable Lycoming O-320-E2D reciprocating engine delivering 150 horsepower, with 1,869 hours since major overhaul (SMOH) and a McCauley 1C160-CTM-7553 propeller.  It boasts an empty weight of 1,122 pounds, a gross weight of 1,700 pounds, and a 26-foot wingspan, making it agile and responsive with aluminum ailerons and full dual controls (front instrumentation only, rear cockpit solo-capable).  The landing gear includes Cleveland wheels and brakes with hydraulic heel brakes in the rear cockpit and a steerable tailwheel, while the main gear is extended by 9 inches to accommodate potential radial engine installation.  Covered in Poly-Fiber fabric and always hangered, its all-steel structure is professionally welded and powder-coated for durability.  Avionics include a Garmin SL40 comm with intercom, KT-76A transponder, AR-850 encoder, ADS-B In/Out, digital CHT, and an ACK 406 ELT, with spares for the alternator and transponder included.  Fuel capacity is 22 gallons, supporting a cruise speed of 98 mph at 2,200 RPM.  Additional features encompass a locking baggage compartment, no heater, and extensive documentation.  Built from scratch in the owner’s garage over several years, this aircraft has a low total time since new of just 173 hours and received its airworthiness certificate on January 29, 2014.
